Every term there is a maximum number of exeats allowed for each border. You are allowed to go home on Saturday lunchtime if you are a girl and after games if you are a boy, until 10pm on Sunday. It is a prefect's privilege to be able to take an extra exeat each term and to be able to leave at break time. Transport can be arranged through your houseparent and there is an exeat coach that leaves for Bath Spa train station at 1pm and 4pm. A coach leaves Bath Spa to come back to school at 8pm on Sunday evening.
The amount of exeats you are allowed to take is 4 in the Autumn Term and 3 in the Spring and Summer Terms. In exceptional circumstances, such as family occasions or sport competitions out of school, your parents can ask your head of year if he/she will grant you permission to take an early exeat.
It is not compulsory to go home for your exeat. If you want to go to a friend's house your head of year must sign an exeat chit given to you by your houseparent. This is easy enough to get but sometimes a bit more difficult to remember to get signed. Wherever you're going, your houseparent will need a phone call from your parents just to confirm that you're going where you say you are, and also from your friend's parents if they're from school.
Similarly, you can go out with friends or family on Sundays. There are no restrictions on how many times you do this and usually houseparents just require the same phoning-in procedure as for exeats. It is a bit of a hassle but, ultimately, while you are at school your houseparents are responsible for you.
Most people find that the amount of exeats that you have per term is plenty. There's so many things to do at school that you don't want to miss out on. Usually you'll want to stay rather than having the hassle of traveling all the way home!
