Millfield runs a monthly magazine which is written by the students.

SportFootball match

The choice of sports at Millfield is just crazy. You can do Archery to Trampolining, Climbing to Octopush (under water hockey) and of course all the normal sports like Hockey, Football, Rugby, Netball etc. Whatever sport you're into it's pretty likely that Millfield will coach it.

Squash matchIt's compulsory to play sport when you're at Millfield. Both boys and girls have a set number of sessions that they must do per week in lunchtimes or after school but the requirements of what you must do in them varies quite a bit, so:

Junior Girls:

Must do at least three sessions a week. At least one of these must be a game of the term (see below) and one must be on a Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Girls:

Must also do three sessions a week but you do not have to do a game of the term.

Junior Boys:

Must do three sessions a week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. These will normally be of the game of the term but it is possible to choose something from the Games Skills Programme, which includes various alternatives.

Senior Boys:

Must still do three sessions a week but can now choose whatever sport you want, although the selection for boys is considerably smaller than it is for girls.

The games of the term are:

Autumn Term
Spring Term
Summer Term
Boys
Rugby & Hockey
Hockey & Football
Athletics & Cricket
Girls
Netball & Hockey
Netball & Hockey
Athletics, Tennis & Swimming

Hockey match
The people with exception to all these rather complicated requirements are those that do a sport full-time.

There are also many other sports that you can play during the week, these are available as a MAP Activity.

Millfield has a system of awarding colours for commitment and achievement shown to your sport. Girls can purchase a badge when awarded with colours. Whoever, most don't as they get lost easily. Rugby matchBoys purchase ties when awarded with colour. These show which sport the wearer plays and which team they belong to.

It really doesn't matter how good you are at a particular sport as Millfield caters for all ability levels. After your first few Games sessions, teams start to be put together. This is done fairly, so don't worry about not having gone to the Prep School.
